Portfolio

This part of the website was to submit and link to my work for the various tasks we had been asked to do as part of the coursework.

The first practical exercise is called Task 4.2; this demonstrates understanding of cascading style sheets for page layout, positioning and coding webpages for maximum accessibility by including skip to links for either content or the menu.

Following this, I decided to implement a skip to link for the content and also included access keys for common shortcuts. My submission for Task 4.2 can be accessed here or by clicking on the thumbnail image of it.

Assessed Coursework Two

image of acw2 linking to the mini websiteACW2 is an online tutorial created from a Dream Weaver template designed to block off regions and provide any prospective user with editable regions to add or change content, ensuring that the design is protected. This forms a rudimentary content management system.

The website is a how to guide for tattooing, we were asked to choose any subject we liked that broke down well into a series of steps. As I get asked regularly about tattooing I chose to explain the process with the help of my tattooists who kindly posed for photos. It was a good opportunity to experiment with colour using a grey scale scheme to reflect black and grey style tattooing and to try new css positioning. ACW2 can be accessed here or by clicking on the thumbnail image of it.

Assessed Coursework Three

picture of ACW3 which links to the databse pageThis comprised of two tasks, the first to complete to workbooks taking you through the principles of constructing active server ages linking to an access database. The second part was to alter these pages to conform to the existing websites template.

I choose to do a variant of this main website's theme but change the colours and images to fit a food company as per the Northwind database. Some of the pages listed a linked from an Access database that needs configuring to work on this Linux server so won't work.

Flash Project

image and link to flash projectPart of my Telemedia course when I was away in Portugal completing my degree was to create a project/mini website in Macromedia Flash. Having never used Flash it was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed creating the graphics and design. Flash is a difficult medium to make wholly accessible and it should be mentioned this project doesn't follow usability and accessibility guidelines. I am working on combining the two currently. However, as a project of complete playgound indulgence, it was fun. It may take a while to load, please bare that in mind as it's approximately 2 meg.
